The 11th annual Flyover Film Festival takes flight July 21-26 at the Speed Cinema and Kentucky Science Center. Six films with ties to the Bluegrass will have their Kentucky premieres, all of which were helmed by female directors.
Film lovers and filmmakers will have the opportunity to meet and mingle with many of the directors from this year’s Flyover Film Festival Pre-Flight Reception to be held on Wednesday, July 10 at 21C Hotel. The party will take place in the Atrium of the hotel from 6:00-8:00 p.m. In addition to the opportunity to meet filmmakers, all guests will enjoy free light bites.
A closing night celebration with complimentary hors d’oeuvres and drinks for attendees of that night’s screening will be held at KMAC Museum after the 7:30 p.m. Kentucky Science Center screening on Friday, July 26 from 9:30 - 10:30 p.m.
In addition to the regular Flyover Film Festival screenings, an Indie Directors Panel with Kay Milam, Bethany Brooke Anderson, Ilana Rein, Urooj Yazdani, Ani Simon-Kennedy and Soozie Eastman will be held on Wednesday, July 24 at 6:00 p.m. at the Speed Cinema. The discussion will focus on their personal journey within the film industry, as well as explore the broader aspects of representation in film, including the range and available roles for women both in front of and behind the camera.
